Uppsala Furries

About Us

Uppsala Furries is a project or an association focused on anthropomorphic animals. We are a subcategory of the umbrella term cosplayers, as we create our own unique characters and make art and costumes, known as fursuits.

The initiative for Uppsala Furries was taken sometime in August or September 2024, when we started dreaming of a space where we could socialise, create art, build our fursuits, and enjoy fika. A space where we had full control around the clock and didn’t have to worry about anyone who doesn’t understand how valuable and personal our suits are.

Having our own space and creating a makerspace would be a dream come true. Read more about our vision here!

In the autumn of 2024, we started what came to be known as Project Uppsala Furrening. This project later transitioned to Uppsala Furries at an interim board meeting on 16 February 2025.

We are an association (or soon to be one) aimed at furries in the Uppsala region and surrounding areas. We organise at least six meets per year, as well as a few larger events with overnight stays.

The initiators who are part of the interim board are: Zey, Dexi, Ratch, Vex, Mink, Flipper, and Wodan.

Events

We host a variety of events, such as fursuit walks, picnics, and game nights. We also have a Discord server where we chat and organize events.

Vision

This initiative was born out of multiple people in the Uppsala furry community expressing interest in having a space for us furries to hang out whenever we felt like. The venue could serve as a makerspace for various creative projects, like fursuit building, 3D printing, drawing, and other crafts. It can also be our cozy hangout to be with friends to watch movies, game, or just chill and have fika. And of course we will furnish and decorate it to be perfectly cozy for us!

We are currently looking for a space to rent for this purpose, and we will need to figure out our financial situation. To reasonably fit these ideas we think we would need a space of at least 100 square meters. The estimated cost will likely be at least 10 000 SEK/month just to cover the rent, and then we would need additional funding to cover the costs of running it. This means we will need monthly membership fees, but from the overwhelming positivity we have seen so far this looks well worth investigating! As we get more concrete figures of the costs, we will check back with our prospective members if this is something you would like to support.
